Departed Bowen on August 28th, 2019.
Our itinerary was to involve the Diamantina National Park, Birdsville Races, where we were to meet up with family from Adelaide. Innamincka was a step off to the Coongie Lakes in the Malkumba National Park and then to make our way north.
Our desire for outback driving which we enjoy so much did not include the black top or as little as possible. By the time we departed Innamincka, we had travelled on only 220 km on the bitumen. This was from Muttaburra, Winton and to the Diamantina River road turn off. At that point we had travelled 1,900 km off-road under a great number of varying road conditions.
